Is Masturbation A Sin? ––See What Pastor Chris Oyakhilome Says
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome of the Believers Love World popularly known as Christ Embassy has again become the subject of a controversial debate on whether masturbation is a sin or not. While answering a question sent in by one of the viewers on a TV programme not too long ago, the Pastor disclosed that masturbation is not a sin. With the brewing controversy yet to die down, in another teaching, he re-affirmed his earlier statement and gave reasons for his stand speaking from a biblical perspective, ”masturbation is not a sin and it has absolutely nothing to do with God so persons involved should stop seeing the act as a sin and enjoy themselves if they really want to”.
This is the second time Pastor Chris is making this public statement and he has taken a swipe at pastors and persons who criticized him when he first stated publicly that God was not against persons who hid to use their hands to stimulate their genitals for sexual pleasure.
Among those that criticized him were the Prelate, Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr. Ola Makinde, who said there was only one way of having s*x permitted by God in the Bible, which is only through marriage. “There is only one way of having s*x in the Bible which is natural. Masturbation is unnatural and unethical. Whatever is unnatural and unethical is abomination. I leave him to his own opinion,” he said.
According to Pastor Tunde Bakare of the Latter Rain Assembly, every believer must be able to subject his body to control because it could lead to something else.
Popular Evangelist, Pastor Akin Fasawe said Masturbation is a sin as stipulated in the Bible, saying that death was even recommended in the Bible for those who practiced such things. “Masturbation is a sin because when you masturbate, you will release. If the minister of God said masturbation is not a sin, he can easily tell his church that fornication is not a sin. The Bible recommends death in the Old Testament,” he stated.
Though Pastor Chris came under massive criticism for his position on masturbation, the man of God had once again uploaded a video on YouTube in which he reaffirms that masturbation should not be confused with lustful thinking and the fact that lustful thinking is a sin of the heart does not mean that masturbation is also a sin.
Pastor Chris cited an example that one cannot say the eating of bread is a sin simply because someone stole and ate bread. He explained that just as the stealing of bread is not the same as eating of bread so also is lustful imaginations not the same as masturbation so the two should not be confused.
“You can still imagine lustful things in your mind while you eat food or even read the bible so let us get the difference and proper definition of what is sin,” he added.
